Surrounded by dense forests, rivers and the Great Smoky Mountains, it’s easy to see why Sevierville is the ideal place to escape it all and connect with nature.

Outdoorsy types will love its proximity to Great Smoky Mountains National Park and access to plenty of outdoor activities and adventure. Of course, you’re also welcome to just kick your feet up and relax in this mountain haven. Whatever your plans include, you’re bound for a wonderful escape.

Great Smoky Mountains National Park

As you hike trails along evergreen forests, you’ll be captivated by pristine rivers, cascading waterfalls and gorgeous mountain vistas. With perennially blooming wildflowers, the Smoky Mountains really know how to show off. Climb the trailhead to the top of Clingman’s Dome and check out the observation tower for panoramic views. It’s no wonder that it’s the most visited national park in the USA. It’s also a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. If hiking the famed Appalachian Trail is on your bucket list, you’re in luck. Venture to Newfound Gap, where you can hit part of this iconic trail. Amidst an evergreen spruce and fir forest, elevated views from the gap are stunning. At night, it’s one of the best spots in the mountains for stargazing.

Outdoor Adventure Awaits

If speed, altitude and terrific views are your thing, you’ll want to visit Foxfire Mountain Adventure Park and soar above nature on its thrilling zip line. Sports and leisure jaunts are plentiful too. Cast your line into some of the most beautiful streams for excellent trout fishing in the Smoky Mountains. And if you crave action-packed thrills on the water, local outfitters will take you whitewater rafting down the Pigeon River. If you’re here in autumn, you’re in for a special treat with the brilliant changing hues of yellow, gold, orange and red fall foliage. Photo-worthy vistas awash in color can be found on hiking trails and scenic drives.

Downtown Sevierville’s Historic Charm

For a slice of Southern charm, pop into downtown Sevierville. As you wander through the historic district, you’ll encounter the old Victorian courthouse and, in its courtyard, the statue honoring homegrown country music legend Dolly Parton, often referred to as the Queen of Country Music. Don’t miss The Diner with its red neon signage and umbrellas shading the outdoor seating. All-American fare graces the menu so be sure to try one of the favorites, the Cadillac Burger. It’s all about good meals and small-town hospitality at this delightful throwback.
