Shenandoah was once home to David Vetter, known as “The Bubble Boy” due to his struggle with a hereditary disease that weakens the immune system. Today, the town has a street and an elementary school named after him. Each year, the event David’s Dream Run raises funds for kids with autoimmune conditions in his honor.
