An underground labyrinth beckoning to be explored
Mammoth Cave National Park preserves the longest known cave system in the world, as well as part of the verdant, hilly Green River valley in south central Kentucky. The park draws thousands of visitors looking to explore the more-than 600 kilometers of caverns. It’s these vast chambers and complex labyrinths that earned the park its name: Mammoth.
The first human to enter Mammoth Cave passed under its imposing arch about 4,000 years ago. Now, you can explore the winding caverns for yourself. Park rangers offer informative tours, or you can choose to discover the caverns on your own. Then, devote some time to the verdant hiking trails and scenic rivers found above ground.
