Rolling green hills framed by rocky coastline
Acadia National Park along the Atlantic coast is renowned for its incredible rocky beaches. Near Bar Harbor, Maine, and about a five-hour drive northeast of Boston, Massachusetts, this national park is also home to towering mountains, lush forests and a wide variety of animals, including great horned owls, bald eagles, moose and eastern coyotes, to name a few.
For excellent views of this sprawling 192-square-kilometer park, take a hike to the top of Cadillac Mountain, the highest point on the North Atlantic seaboard. You can also spend your time biking along the park’s 92 kilometers of historic carriage roads. And whatever you do, don’t miss the stargazing here, as the lack of light pollution makes for some truly dazzling nighttime photographs!
