Say ‘Che Hun Ta Mo’ (Hello) to the Sunshine State’s first people.

Experience real native Florida at the museums, wilderness areas and villages that preserve a side of the state’s history rarely seen and yet anything but hidden – if you know where to look. Learn about history at the Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum, witness culture at tribal events and Seminole Okalee Indian Village, and have a fun family adventure at Billie Swamp Safari. Stay awhile at the Big Cypress RV Park & Campground.

Get Educated at Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum

In the Seminole language, Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki means “a place to learn.” Since the museum is home to more than 30,000 unique artifacts and archival items, it’s impossible not to learn a lot here. Hear tribal members tell their story in the film “We Seminoles,” then visit the museum’s exhibits and galleries where rare artifacts and life-sized depictions of traditional practices are showcased. Outside, take the boardwalk to Living Village where Seminoles create and sell beadwork, basketry, woodcarvings and patchwork.
