An Instagram Tour through Hawaii

In honor of World Tourism Day, Australian’s helloworld organized an Instagram relay for destinations across the world to showcase their favorite local hotspots and can’t-miss experiences. 60 countries and 75 influencers posted from sunrise to sunset on one of social media’s most popular platforms – Instagram.

Australian landscape photographer, Pauly Vella set out to Hawaii to capture the diverse and beautiful scenery of this tropical paradise. Take a look at his photos and prepare to be awed by amazing shots of volcanoes, gorgeous beaches, colorful sunsets and more!

What an awesome way to start the trip with a drive up to Mauna Kea Summit! It's an incredible dormant volcano here on Hawai'i. It is over 13,000 feet! When measured from its oceanic base, Mauna Kea is over 10,000m (33,000 ft) tall, significantly taller than Mount Everest!!! So excited to see sunset from that high!

Rainbow Falls

Yesterday on the way up to Mauna Kea we stopped at the beautiful Waiānuenue, Rainbow Falls! It was such a gorgeous place! Surrounded by rainforest and lush green jungle. Tomorrow is the big day for the @helloworldAU #HelloworldRELAY! To celebrate world tourism day, I will be posting 12 shots across the day from sunrise to sunset of the big islands incredible landscape! Can't wait to showcase this amazing place as part of the relay!

Some beautiful colours above the clouds on Mauna Kea! This is one of the observatories that is used by astronomers all over the world to discover things about our galaxy and universe. Believe it or not, it actually snows up here in the winter where local Hawaiians will have the opportunity to ski, snowboard, sled and have snow ball fights! Some even take a load of snow in their truck and have snow ball fights back down on the beach.

Today we adventured to Akaka falls to see this incredible waterfall. It was so amazing to see in person! And tomorrow morning, I might even see some lava action - fingers crossed! I'm excited to be bringing you some highlights of Hawai'i island tomorrow for the #helloworldRELAY! I will be posting 12 shots from sunrise to sunset of my day covering photography spots all over the Big Island - I can't wait!

This morning we are out in Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park viewing the lava before sunrise! I will bring you a new image every hour for 12 hours! Stay tuned!

Thurston Lava Tube

Next stop on the adventure is Thurston Lava tube! What an incredible place to walk through, what was once streaming with liquid hot magma at 2000 °F. I love the choice of lighting in the tunnel too - it makes it look as though it's still glowing red!

We were lucky enough to see a beautiful rainbow forming over the lava fields this morning when the morning light was just beautiful! They don't call it the rainbow state for nothing.

Up in the clouds where I swear I could hear the faint roar or Tyrannosaurus rex and King Kong. But in all seriousness this place was absolutely incredible! Thank you to @ParadiseHelicopters for helping me discover such a special part of Hawai'i.

When the sun sets in Hawai'i, the tiki torches light the way. After a beautiful cultural tour hosted by @SheratonKona, we welcomed a group of inspiring Instagrammers and locals to @RaysOnTheBayKona for an Instameet! What a great way to top off the day. I'll be having a few Hawaiian cocktails to celebrate.
