Orlando’s Amusement Parks

We definitely saved the best for last on our final day on the Southern Atlantic Coast Highway! We spent the entire day exploring Orlando’s amazing Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. Our inner kids couldn’t have been happier as we ran from ride to ride.

After a great breakfast at the Cabana Bay Beach Resort, we walked to the parking lot where a bus was waiting for us. It took us straight to the park and the adventures began! We felt very lucky to get the VIP experience once we got there.

First up: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. If you’re a Harry Potter super fan like us, this is the place for you! We were in awe as we walked around Diagon Alley, met the grumpy goblin bankers at Gringotts, and searched for our unique wands at Ollivanders. We even found Platform 9 ¾ and hopped on the Hogwarts Express. The experience was truly unique, and brought the books and movies to life even more for us.

After that magical experience, we continued exploring all the exciting rides. We met the Minions on a Despicable Me 3D simulator, where we took a “Minion training” course and even had a dance party. After that, we stumbled into Springfield, home of the Simpsons. We hopped on a ride that took us through Krustyland, a carnival-like wild ride through the Simpsons’ world.

We would’ve been happy with just those amazing rides, but luckily there were many more. Before we continued exploring the park, we stopped at Mythos Restaurant for lunch. We were impressed that there was an award-winning restaurant inside the amusement park. The food was incredible, and we loved the impressive decoration (imagine towering rock formations, cascading waterfalls and ancient figures carved into the walls).

After lunch, we were back in action. We went for a ride with The Cat in The Hat through pages of Dr. Seuss’ popular book. Fun fact: Dr. Seuss never drew straight lines in his books, so the ride is full of twists, turns, and curves. We loved it! From there we rode two roller coasters back-to-back: Revenge of the Mummy and The Hulk. They were both so exciting, and after riding both of them twice, we were a little dizzy but giddy with excitement. Our last rides of the day came straight out of some of our favorite movies: Spider Man’s 3D experience, where we helped rescue the Statue Of Liberty, and Transformers, another 3D experience where we fought in the intergalactic war between Autobots and Decepticons (just like in the movies!).

As the day came to an end, we couldn’t have been happier with everything we experienced, and Universal Studios was the perfect way to wrap up the exciting Southern Atlantic Coast Highway road trip. Thanks for joining us!
